Re-installed Adobe Flash Plugin for Windows 8, but my videos still won't play.

I used to be able to play videos just fine on Xfinity TV, but recently I used a free download (VLN Program) which also put a bunch of other things I didn't want on my computer, and created a lot of problems. I was coming up with an error on the xfinity play screen of 517. So I restored my computer to before I ever downloaded the program. Now I don't get an error, but the video will load and never play. I know it is not my internet speed, the video plays fine on my Macbook. I reinstalled Adobe Flash Plugin, but it is still not working. Help.
